Set Up & New Installation

metimes your local computer repair or laptop computer repair technician can't help you and you have to buy a new computer. You may have put it off so long partially because you know how much trouble it can be to set up a new computer.

Now you don't have to set up your computer. Our local computer repair and laptop computer repair technicians will come to your home or office to install it for you! We will unpack it, put it at the desk or workstation of your choice and connect all the cables to your new monitor, keyboard and mouse. In addition we will connect sound cards, scanners, printers, music players, web cams and other peripherals—up to 3 external devices.

nce the computer is running we'll connect it to the internet via broadband, modem or dongle. Once your laptop or computer is connected to the web we'll set up an email account for you and test it to make sure it works. Then we'll check the new system, including everything that's connected to it, and make sure everything is working correctly before we leave.

You may even want to consider an extra service such as setting up extra partitions to make your computer more secure and convenient. Your local computer repair tech or laptop computer repair tech can configure your hard drive to your best advantage. Most hard drives have 2 or more partitions (or parts) that the OS (operating system) treats as a separate drive or storage area. One is generally bigger and used for everyday storage while the other serves as a recovery device in case of a crash. A 120 GB drive can have several partitions depending on how your OS sets it up but you can also manually set up partitions. You can use one for an alternate OS that might need a different formatting scheme. You can park data and programs on a separate partition that can be used by whichever OS is active. Your C drive will have a boot loader that allows you to choose which OS you want to boot up.

By having a separate partition for your OS, even if you don't use more than one OS, you can park programs onto the D drive. When you have your computer reformatted and the OS is reinstalled all your programs and data will be unaffected. When you store content on a separate partition you can easily archive it on backup drives if needed. For example you can have the OS on the C drive, programs on the D drive, data files on E and multimedia and ripping/burning capacity on F. You have 4 partitions all serving different purposes that make your data more secure than storing everything on just the C drive.

You can discuss your hard drive partitioning needs with your local computer repair or laptop computer repair technician prior to setting up your new computer. If more partitions would suit your needs the tech will be glad to provide them.

If your computer needs a new OS (operating system) or you want to install the latest version of your OS we can pick up your laptop or desktop from your home or office and take it to our local computer repair facility to do the work. Our technician will speak with you to ascertain your needs and check to see if your computer is compatible with the OS or upgrade that you want. If not, we can give you several options which may be as simple as upgrading your hardware to accommodate the new or upgraded OS. We'll set up user accounts and download any necessary updates. When we bring your PC or laptop back to you we'll then make sure that you are comfortable with your new system.
